Is it okay to have an animated background image at blogger?

i have a girly blog where i discuss various findings on skin care and other stuff. previously, i had a personal xanga where my background image was always animated. i feel it gives life to the blog. so i am just wondering, if i upload animated background image to my blogspot blog will it get penalized by google? will there be any negative effect? i just want to keep the image very simple so everything on pages remains readable.
