My HP Photosmart D110 Printer will not print reliably and claim the ink cartridge has been depleted...?

However, the ink is not depleted, I have refilled it with the HP Black ink refill kit. It still displays this error message and won't print anything readable. Then, it said that it wasn't calibrated so I did the whole calibration setting with the print the paper, then scan the printed copy nonsense and it's still getting the no black ink error. What should I try next? I bought the printer in February of this year.
